Repost from @sh_arda --- Happy Earth Day Mother Earth is widely discussed from her astounding beauty, her abundance, her never ending ability to give. On the other hand, we have taken, and taken from her and continue to create havoc. As a child, it made me sick to my stomach thinking about how, one day, the tiger would become extinct or the last tree would be cut down or the final river polluted. I used to cry wildly. I brought a tin to school for WWF and raised 80.00 dollars in ten cent coins to help the animals. I wanted to run off and become an environmental conservationist. I didn't choose that path. Over time, I got a little jaded. Or weathered. Or " morally ambivalent." But, that ache I felt as a child is something I still feel today. And so... I choose to care for our mother by small simple actions .... 1) Switch off the aircon or cut down on it altogether. ???? 2) Switch off lights when you're not using them. 3) Turn off your charging portals or turn the heater off. Power off your laptop when you're not using them. It does use up energy! 4)As much as possible find a way to have a sustainable wardrobe or .... mix and match and treat clothes well, not as a fast fashion commodity. 5) Create an awareness about our carbon footprint. discuss it with others, remind ourselves that one day our Earth will stop providing. So when will we stop taking ? 6) Support the animals, plants and wildlife, indigenous communities financially, because yes, money helps and if we are not on the ground doing the work that they are doing and if we have the means to financially support them, donate. It goes a long way in helping our fighters also fight this fight with us. 7) Respect our planet. Respect our planet. Respect our plant.
